How to make a wishlist with gifts from any shop

Before you start

• Use the exact product page, including the size or edition you mean.
• Check imported details before sharing. Saved prices are dated snapshots.
• You buy with the retailer. Adding a wish does not place an order.

Start with a list you can recognise

Open My wish lists, sign in and create a list for the occasion. A title such as ‘Alex’s birthday ideas’ helps your family pick the right list later. Keep separate occasions apart if the people buying are different. Your account is where you return to edit; your sharing link is the view you send to buyers.

Copy the product link, then name the wish

Open the specific product at the shop, copy its public https:// address and paste it into Add a link or a wish. Use Name this wish to say what you mean, such as ‘blue insulated mug, 350ml’. We try to retrieve the product’s title, image and UK price when you save. Some shops block previews, so a missing photo does not mean the wish cannot be saved.

Add the detail a buyer cannot guess

Check the saved title, link and any available details. Add useful preferences in the wish’s note where available: clothing size, book format, game platform or the colour you would choose. Link to the exact version where possible. A shop may default to a different variant when someone opens the page, so the written detail still matters.

Keep wishes that do not have a product page

Type a plain-text idea when a link would add nothing. ‘A homemade cake’, ‘a garden centre voucher’ or ‘money towards a new bicycle’ can be enough. A contribution wish is a request for an idea, rather than a payment facility. Agree any money collection separately with people you know.

Check the list before you share it

Open the saved shop links and remove anything you have bought yourself. Give people a choice of prices and remember that postage can change the total. Your saved price may have changed since it was checked. The buyer should confirm the final price, seller, stock and delivery date on the retailer’s website.

Send one list link

Use the list’s sharing controls and send the link by WhatsApp, email or your usual messaging app. Anyone holding that link can view the list and reserve a gift, so send it deliberately.
